Jake has recently started becoming more interested in clothes. In particular, he has a soft spot for socks. He will spend countless hours pulling the socks out of his drawer, undoing the matches so that random socks are scattered around his room, and attempting to put them on his feet (he is still quite far from being able to do this on his own, but at least he knows their intended function!).
His absolute favorite past-time when it comes to socks, however, is wearing them on his hands! After finding the perfect pair, (typically the tie-dye socks that appear in the pictures below!), Jake will hand them over to me, grinning impishly, and hold out his hands expectantly until I help him get them on. From there, he will look at his hands, wave them in front of his face, look up at me and smile from ear-to-ear, and then run off to play. Jake knows how to take them off, but he will play indefinitely with the socks on his hands. Fashionista in the making?!
I also pulled out all the winter clothes the other day, in an attempt to prepare for my least-favorite season of all. Last year Jake was barely walking during the winter, so we never felt the need for boots. This year, however, I thought it might be good for him to get used to walking in boots, since they are heavy and clunky, so I put them on so that Jake could test them out. After a few unsteady minutes, I took the winter clothes off. Big. Mistake. As soon as I did, he came running back over to me, sat down on my lap, looked up at me, and signed “more, more”, pointing to the boots and coat! Again, I think his fashionista tendencies are starting to appear!!
